Park Avenue Center was originally a private home built in 1900 by William De La Barre, an early Minneapolis industrialist. The building has been rehabilitated for use as an outpatient treatment center. Every effort was made to restore and preserve the beauty and uniqueness of the structure. The result is a home-like, non-institutional setting that provides a comfortable and respectful atmosphere for treatment services.
The Treatment Center was founded by Richard Fuller in 1978 initially as a psychotherapy center and chemical dependency treatment was added in 1982. In 1988, we became gender specific and added free on-site child care for clients. In 1990, residential services were added with Park Avenue Center paying for all room and board costs. In 1999, we added our Long-Term Residential program and we have since added D.W.I. educational classes.
Over the years, Park Avenue Center has had extensive recognition for its innovative and effective programs while maintaining an extremely low cost to the consumer and third party payers. Park Avenue Center has become one of the largest and most respected treatment centers in Minnesota and was recently recognized as a Top Substance Abuse Provider.
