Park Avenue Center allows you to enter drug and alcohol treatment without the need for a substance abuse assessment. However, there is often still the need for an assessment to satisfy court requirements, driver’s licenses reinstatement requirements, and many other treatment programs still require an assessment to enter treatment. Often referred to as a Rule 25 assessment, the purpose of the substance abuse assessment is to evaluate a person’s drug and alcohol use to determine if treatment is needed, what level of care is most appropriate, which program might best meet the client’s needs, and to obtain funding.
Assessments are free for those who qualify for Rule 25 funding, or we offer self-pay assessments that will meet court requirements for $100. For those with insurance, the assessment is typically covered however, co-pays and deductibles do apply. The assessment lasts about an hour and include questions about many different areas of a person’s life. Whenever possible, the Assessor also speaks to “collateral” which is a person that can also give information about the client being assessed. Finally, we also provide assessments virtually if that works better.
We offer assessments by appointment and walk-ins on a first-come first-served basis Monday through Friday starting 7:00 A.M at our Assessment/ Men’s Programming building located at 2430 Nicollet Avenue in Minneapolis.
Appointments fill up fast and can only be taken up to 3 weeks in advance. Walk-in’s are taken on a first come, first served basis. Clients with appointments should arrive 15 minutes early to complete paperwork. Appointment time slots will be given to walk-in clients in the event the client does not arrive on time.
