Katty Kropf, ADC-T

Katty obtained her certificate in Addiction Studies from the University of Minnesota and continues to pursue her B.S. in Psychology. Prior to joining the Park Avenue team as a Co-occurring Counselor, Katty worked as a sexual assault crisis advocate at The Aurora Center and as an intern at NUWAY. Fascinated by the intersection between chemical dependency and mental illness, she hopes to further her education both in the classroom and in the counseling field. Her professional interests include the connections between addiction and interpersonal relationships, cultural influence, and neurobiology. Katty states she is passionate about this field because she is inspired by the insight and resilience demonstrated by those in recovery.

Jennifer Dashow, BA, LADC

Jennifer obtained her BA in Psychology at the University of River Falls and completed her degree in Addiction Counseling at Minneapolis College. Prior to starting her career at Park Avenue Center as an Intake Float Counselor, Jennifer completed her internships with RS Eden in their Men’s Residential Program and Valhalla Place MAT. Her professional goal is to continue to grow her experience by working with a diverse range of populations and communities and to build strong relationships as she goes. She is passionate about helping clients to lead fulfilling lives and transition their barriers into strengths. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her dog, Bear.

Shay Lell, BSN, RN, PHN

Shay is a Registered Nurse working with the Men’s and Women’s Programs. Shay attended the University of Minnesota where she received her Bachelor of Arts in English. She then started law school and quickly realized that the nature of law did not fit with the way she desired to help people. Shay decided that nursing would be the perfect fit for her and returned to the University of Minnesota where she received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Shay has experience working with both adults and adolescents in mental health and substance abuse, as well as in organ transplant nursing. She is passionate about meeting people where they are at in their recovery, and helping them discover how to improve their physical, emotional, social, and spiritual wellness. In her free time, Shay can be found at a dance studio taking ballet classes, cooking with family and friends, and playing with her dogs.

Kelsey DiBias, BA, LSW

Kelsey received her BA is Social Work from the University of St. Thomas. Prior to graduating, she completed an internship with Indian Education Programs in the Minneapolis Public Schools and Park Avenue Center, where she worked with both the Men’s and Women’s programs.  She was honored as National Association of Social Workers-MN BSW Social Work Student of the Year in 2019. Upon graduation and receipt of her LSW, Kelsey returned to work with Park Avenue Center in our Social Work department. She chose to work in this field and at Park Avenue Center because she is passionate about advocating for clients who are under-served. In her free time, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her family and friends.

Rachael Peterson, MS, LPCC, LADC, CCTP

Rachael has worked in law enforcement for over 16 years in several roles such as Sergeant, Hostage Negotiator, Peer Support Officer, Critical Incident Facilitator and a mental health liaison. She has used her own experiences to transition into a second career as a mental and chemical health therapist.  She earned her Masters of Science from Walden University in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and completed her LADC credential through Century College. She has worked in a variety of settings both in mental health, chemical health, crisis work, for agencies such as River Ridge, New Beginnings, Pride Institute and Carver County. Her areas of expertise are trauma, EMDR, addiction, CISM, supervision and consultation for first responder agencies on health/ wellness as well as, trauma response for first responders. Further, she have presented at a variety of conferences on stress, trauma, secondary trauma and building resilience. Her passion is help others build resilience, strength and hope to overcome pain and addiction. In her free time, she enjoys running, biking, camping and kayaking with her wife and two dogs.

Ashlee Alberts, RD, LD, LMFT

Ashlee Alberts is a Registered Dietitian for both the Men’s and Women’s Programs. Ashlee attended St. Olaf College and St. Mary’s University where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Master of Arts in Marriage & Family Therapy, respectively. She had a previous career as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist for 5 years before deciding to go back to school at the University of Minnesota for her Bachelor of Science in Nutrition. Ashlee completed her dietetic internship at the VA Medical Center and worked at Abbott Northwestern Hospital and United Hospital as a Clinical Dietitian before transitioning to Park Avenue Center. Ashlee is passionate about nutrition education and making sure clients receive accurate, evidence-based research information on nutrition. She hopes to someday be an expert in clinical nutrition and become a Board-Certified Specialist in Renal Nutrition or a Certified Diabetes Educator. Ashlee spends her free time doing Olympic weightlifting, CrossFit, yoga, and loves to cook and bake for her family and friends.

Alexa Anderson, BS, LSW

Alexa Anderson is a Social Worker in the Women’s Program. She attended Augsburg University where she received her Bachelor of Science in Social Work. Alexa interned with the Hennepin County Public Defender’s Office on the Dispositional Advising team where she worked to improve dispositional outcomes for juveniles and adults with chemical dependency, and/or SPMI. She also interned at the Dignity Center where she worked with individuals facing various challenges including chemical dependency, mental illness, and homelessness. Alexa spends her free time making music and working on a book with fellow social workers involving her research about corporal punishment in the United States’ school system. Alexa is passionate about making the resources that enable recovery available to all people and expanding the accessibility of methods of recovery including harm reduction and affordable treatment.  

Megan Schilling, MS, LADC

Megan is a Co-occurring Counselor in the Men’s Program.  She attended the University of Wisconsin-Stout, where she received her Masters of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with concentrations in alcohol and substance abuse and dependency and eating disorders. She has her LADC and is currently pursuing her LPCC and NCC. Megan began her career working at Lutheran Social Services as a case manager in 2018 and then transitioned to Park Avenue Center to take the role of Co-occurring Counselor. Megan is passionate about working with individuals whom have co-occurring concerns, along with those who have experienced past trauma. Megan actively spends her time expanding her knowledge in these areas, along with learning more about treating eating disorders.  Megan spends her free time exercising, reading novels and listening to different types of music.

Christina Schneberger, BS, LADC

Christina attended Inver Hills Community College where she received her Associate’s degree in Psychology. She then went on to attend the University of Cincinnati, Ohio where she obtained her Bachelors of Science in Substance Abuse Counseling. Christina has been working in the Substance Abuse field since 2016, when she began her career working at Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation as an Addiction Technician and an Admissions Coordinator working with Youth and Adolescents. Christina started her internship at Park Avenue Center in August 2018 and worked with both the Men’s and Women’s Program before being offered a position as Co-occurring Counselor with our Men’s program. Christina plans to work toward her LPCC while she furthers her career as an LADC. Christina is passionate about the work she does and enjoys working with underserved populations. In her free time, Christina enjoys traveling, and spending time with her loved ones.

Anna Ellis, MA, LADC

Anna is an LADC currently attending the University of St. Thomas where she is working towards her Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology, specializing in co-occurring disorders.  Her goal is to obtain her LPCC. Anna started her career at Park Avenue as an intern, moved into the role of paid-intern, and was then promoted to Intake Float Counselor before assuming her current position as Co-Occurring Counselor. Anna was inspired to work in this field, and at Park specifically, because she is passionate about helping under-served clients overcome barriers and strive for positive change. Anna enjoys traveling, spending time with her family and friends, and enjoying the outdoors.
